Florida Mold Licensing Program

Florida Statute 468.8413 and 468.8414 requirements:

For Mold Remediators: 

1.) Pass the required mold remediation examination offered by theAmerican Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). To qualify for this exam, you must complete training by a registered course provider. Searchable List: http://www.acac.org/

2.) Have at least a 2-year associate of arts degree, or the equivalent, with at least 30 semester hours in microbiology, engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or a related field of science from an accredited institution and a minimum of 1 year of documented field experience in a field related to mold remediation; or have a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of documented field experience in a field related to mold remediation.

For Mold Assessors:

1.) Pass the required mold assessment examination offered by the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). To qualify for this exam, you must complete training by a registered course provider. Searchable List: http://www.acac.org/

2.) Have at least a 2-year associate of arts degree, or the equivalent, with at least 30 semester hours in microbiology, engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or a related field of science from an accredited institution and a minimum of 1 year of documented field experience in conducting microbial sampling or investigations; or have a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of documented field experience in conducting microbial sampling or investigations.

3.) Be of good moral character and complete an electronic fingerprint background check.

4.) Obtain a $1,000,000 insurance policy to cover both preliminary and post-remediation assessment.

5.) Pay the $330 license application fee.
